Meal Program

Highlands offers several wholesome and nutritious meal options for students 12-months-old through eighth grade. The Family Center serves two snacks per day and a hot lunch, catered on campus. Students in four-year-old kindergarten through eighth grade have the option of daily hot lunches.

For the 2019-2020 school year, Highlands is excited to partner with Creative Cuisine, now Christian Catering (re-named for the owner's son). For more information about their business, history, and contacts, please visit their website.

Ordering

Snacks and meals in the Family Center are standardized and part of annual tuition. For the four-year-old kindergarten through eighth grade lunch program, families use an online ordering system. The process for ordering is the following:

  1. Locate the appropriate monthly menu in the panel on the lower right hand side of this page to peruse the options for the current month. Menus are usually posted by the 27th of each month, and the ordering portal closes on the 5th of the month. (Order by the 12th for August.)
  2. Access your online account by following the lunch order link. If you have not created an account, please create an account and indicate your classroom/homeroom teacher's name. (If you do not know your homeroom teacher, indicate "Unknown" and return to complete this field later.)
  3. From the landing page, click on the order tab under your child's name to display the menu options for each week of the month. A "right click" will allow you to access the menu for the next week.
  4. Place your full monthly order and follow the check-out procedure. If paying by credit card, a 5% processor fee will be added to your order.

If your child is ABSENT from school due to scheduled absence or illness, log into your account by 7:30 a.m. to cancel the order and receive a credit on your account.

The SALAD BAR is now an extra item and not automatically included with the meal. It must be purchased to be included in your child's lunch.

Service

The Family Center snacks and meals are served by the facility staff and served per plate, per child. Children have the option of additional portions or "seconds," if desired.

In four-year-old kindergarten through eighth grade, each child's meal is prepared separately based upon the order provided by the parents. Upon arrival at the Blue Devil Bistro (dining hall), each child's plate will be appropriately marked with their name for quick, easy, and accurate service. CC staff expedite the orders and teachers and administrators assist and monitor distribution.

In the event of a "forgotten lunch," a cold sandwich option with sides and water is available to ensure that no child goes hungry.
