4th Graders Collaborate to Bring Joy to Their Teachers

4th Graders Collaborate to Bring Joy to Their Teachers

Earlier this year, a simple car ride to school turned into a heartwarming display of The Highlands Way (our core values) in action. Three of our 4th graders, Audrey Jane, Bea, and Charlotte, embarked on a mission that showcased their Responsibility, Compassion, and Collaboration.

It all began with a conversation about Ms. Jenkins’ chart paper. The girls noticed that Ms. Jenkins was not fond of her current paper, describing it as too slippery and shiny. With a shared sense of compassion and a desire to help, they decided to pool their resources to buy her new chart paper. This initial idea quickly expanded to include raising funds for new items for all their 4th grade teachers.

The girls meticulously planned a lemonade stand, bake sale, and jewelry sale. Their dedication and teamwork paid off as they executed a flawless event, raising nearly $200! This impressive feat was just the beginning of their journey.

With the funds raised, the girls demonstrated responsibility. They organized a meeting to count the money, divide it equally among the teachers, and order the gifts. Their commitment didn’t stop there. They met again to wrap the gifts and prepare heartfelt cards for each teacher. The excitement and pride they felt were palpable as they anticipated delivering the gifts.

This initiative is a testament to the leadership values instilled in our students. Their actions not only brought joy to their teachers but also reinforced the importance of community and kindness.

We are proud of these young leaders – and their teachers are pretty pleased with their new and improved chart paper.
