Highlands 3rd Grader Publishes Book from 1st Grade Authors Party

Highlands 3rd grader, Amulya Bansal, is a published author! She worked with her parents to publish a book containing the two short stories she wrote in Ms. Dupree’s 1st grade class two years ago– The Day Milk Disappeared and The Super Crazy Situation.

Over the course of several weeks, our 1st graders participate in a writers' workshop – learning about story structure, proper grammar, and non-fiction vs. fiction text. They apply these skills and write a collection of individual books. Every year, they share their titles with their families on the quad during our annual Authors’ Party. Amulya’s mother, Aparna, says, “I loved the stories so much that I felt that I needed to help her get them out to the world.”

Amulya’s book is now available to purchase on Amazon.
