Introducing Studio 8 - A New Middle School Media Project

When asked why they chose to stay for middle school at Highlands School, the 8th grade students shared profound insights about belonging, growth, and opportunity. Their reflections highlighted the transformation they experienced during these formative years. Yet, they felt something was missing- representation. Many expressed a desire for their voices to be heard by families and friends who may not understand the significance of completing the Highlands School journey through 8th Grade. 

Inspired be their voices, Studio 8 is a new media project that aims to create content that will celebrate what makes middle school at Highlands School extraordinary. 

MEET THE CREATORS

"Hello, my name is Payten Jackson. I've been here at Highlands School for three years. My middle school experience has been very eventful, and I'm excited to showcase the things we do to all of the parents and students." -PJ 

"Hello, my name is Sterling Thompson-Johnson. I have been at Highlands School for four years. I wanted to start creating media because I have grown as an individual because of my opportunities here. With this content, everyone will get a glimpse of what we see. I hope all Highlands School students and parents follow our new journey!" -STJ

"Hi, my name is Mary Ruth Goodrich. This is my 9th year at Highlands School. I wanted to start creating media to showcase the middle school experience. Middle school at Highlands School is truly so much fun. A lot of the activities and events we do get overlooked- I can't wait to highlight the middle school from my perspective." -MRG

"Hello! My name is Ella Harp. I have been here for ten years! These ten years have been empowering, and I am so excited to bring new ideas to the school's social media.
