Infant Teacher

The Family Center at Highlands School is an early childhood program meeting the needs of children from 6 weeks old to 4K readiness. We seek to hire an infant/toddler teacher with a strong background in early childhood education and child development with commensurate experience. The successful candidate must be a team player and positive thinker, exhibit a model work ethic and can-do attitude, be loving and nurturing, and possess strong communication skills. This is a full-time, year-round position.
 

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Plan and implement age and developmentally appropriate classroom practices that will include the areas of physical, emotional, social and cognitive/intellectual needs of the children, utilizing early childhood educational best practices
  • Have knowledge of and preferred experience teaching a nationally recognized early childhood curriculum (ex: Creative Curriculum) as well as NAEYC curricular guidelines
  • Accept and maintain responsibility on a daily basis for the ordered arrangement, appearance and cleanliness of the learning environment 
  • Complete weekly lesson plans and maintain a portfolio for each student
  • Encourage children’s development in the areas of building self-confidence, problem-solving, and taking responsibility for their actions
  • Foster and build strong relationships with each child on a daily basis through circle time, centers, snacks, lunchtime, playground, etc.
  • Consistently yet lovingly teach developmentally appropriate classroom behaviors
  • Build positive, informative, and communicative relationships with the parents and other caregivers
  • Work with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with others, and work cooperatively as part of a team
  • Be an active and integral part of the Highlands Community by fostering relationships with other teachers and staff at all grade levels and in all departments
  • Exhibit a growth mindset in the area of professional learning and development
  • Understand, accept, and abide by the School’s philosophy and mission statement in all his/her school activities


Qualifications:

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Degree
  • 2+ years experience in a quality Early Childhood program
  • DHR background clearance
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication ability, and creativity
  • Possess strong time management skills
  • Maintain certification in First Aid and CPR
  • Show strong interpersonal and leadership skills, possessing initiative, flexibility, responsiveness and nimbleness
  • Must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation
