Spring Sports Return!

Highlands School

We are thrilled to announce the return of spring sports at Highlands! As of right now, there are two confirmed opportunities – soccer and volleyball. We are also in discussions to host open gym sessions for middle school basketball, as well and will let you know once we have more details. In order to comply with our COVID-19 protocols and grade-level cohorts, our practices will look different than years’ past. Keep reading for more information.

Are you interested in playing volleyball? Wonder what kind of fun we get into in the Student Life Center gym? Want to learn how to play a new sport and be a part of a team? Come see Coach Bicksler at an open gym this spring! We’ll talk about our practice and game schedule, show you how a practice runs, and teach you some fun volleyball drills and games. No prior volleyball experience is required! If you have any questions, email me at
6th grade: Friday, April 2nd | 3:00 – 4:00 PM
7th grade: Friday, April 9th | 3:00 – 4:00 PM
8th grade: Friday, April 16th | 3:00 – 4:00 PM

In order to adhere to our grade level cohorts, teams will only be made up of students in the same Highlands grade level. Mr. Cavanah will work with BUSA to make the rosters. Because of this, if there are not enough interested students within a specific grade level to meet the minimum requirements, we will not be able to accommodate a team. If that happens, BUSA will then refund registration fees (unless you wish to play for a BUSA team).
At this time, we do not have designated times for practice yet. However, we wanted to remind you that there are no drop-ins allowed for EDP this year. There are still EDP spots available for certain grade levels, but families must commit to a monthly rate, five-day per week schedule. If you think you will need EDP before or after soccer practice, please check with Gabe McCool for availability (
Registration ends February 24th! Click here to register on BUSA’s site. Practice will begin the week of March 1st.
