STEM in 2nd Grade

Mrs. Cramer and Mrs. Tapley’s class used STEM Legos for this activity. Students worked with a partner and had free reign with a box of the Legos. They were able to design and build using the Legos based on an image provided or follow their imaginations. Many teams chose to create their own design. When the design and build was complete, they generated an oral story to go with it. We had an "Animal Protector" Vehicle and a toy car that are pictured!

Mrs. Waylander and Mrs. Michelson's second grade class participated in their first STEM activity, as well. For this activity, students were challenged to design and engineer a unique creature. The ONE and ONLY rule was that the materials used could only be tin foil and pipe cleaners. Once they finished their creation, they had to provide information about where the creature lives, what it likes to eat, and what it does for fun. The students LOVED this activity. Please make sure you check out their creatures in the library!
