Parents' Auxiliary

Dear Highlands Parents,

Summer seems to be flying by!  I hope you and your kids have had a fantastic one thus far filled with adventure, fun, and plenty of time to relax and slow down. Here in these muggy days of July it’s hard to believe the beginning of the school year is around the corner, but it’s just a few short weeks away. If your children are anything like mine, by the time mid-August rolls around, they are excited by the prospect of reconnecting with old friends and teachers, meeting new ones, and getting back into the swing of a routine. (To be honest, I am considerably more excited about that last one than my kids).

As always, the Highlands Parents’ Auxiliary is here to support the school’s vision and mission and to help plan and orchestrate various events throughout the year that enrich our children’s experience and give us all opportunities to come together as a community. Whether you are brand new to Highlands (welcome!) or a veteran parent, there are plenty of ways to get involved throughout the year, so please be on the lookout for those sign ups!

Below are a few important dates to put on your calendar as we kick off the 2017-18 school year:

Monday, August 14th- Open House
— Come and meet your child’s homeroom teacher and see his or her classroom.
— 6th-8th Grade- Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences
— Come by the gym and grab your carpool number, pick up your Highlands Field Trip Shirts, and, if interested, buy your PA Family Pack (which includes a Faculty/Staff appreciation contribution plus a “fast pass” to school events throughout the year). In addition stop by the tables that have information on various after-school activities including soccer, Scout Troops, and Cross Country, as well as tables for the different PA committees and volunteer opportunities.

Parent Information Nights, Spencer Center
Thursday, August 17th - 6:30- Family Center -  3rd grades
Thursday, August 24th- 6:30- 4th - 8th grades

I look forward to another fabulous school year and to seeing everyone back on campus in about a month! If you are new to Highlands (or even if you’re not), please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions about the Parents’ Auxilary. Until then, enjoy these remaining summer days and nights.

All my best,

Susan Evans
