First Interim Parent Auxiliary Update

Rebecca McCracken
Hello Highlands,

Only a quarter of the school year has passed, and already so much has been celebrated and accomplished! From the first hellos and reunions at Open House to the most recent gathering at Fall Festival, it has surely been an exciting and successful start to the year.

Thank you, parents of Highlands. Thank you for supporting our community in countless ways. You give of your time, energy, and resources every day, and you make so many school-wide efforts come to reality, whether by offering your professional expertise to classes, volunteering at events, serving on committees, or contributing in any way.

I believe this year’s theme of community is a gift to us all. It both calls to mind the “family” we are at Highlands and also urges us to strengthen that quality.  Let’s continue to foster everything beautiful about Highlands School!

A few notes regarding PA events…

Fall Festival
I would like to extend huge thanks to Courtney Stephens, assisted by Elene Giattina, who planned and produced a fantastic Fall Festival. It’s special when these Highlands traditions come around, and so great to see families, classmates, and faculty alike sharing in the fun.

Country of Study
Though celebrations of Italy are ongoing in the classrooms, the official Country of Study kickoff is November 10th at 2:15 in the Spencer Center, and all are invited to attend. Steady focus on Italy will continue through the year, with finale celebrations on Museum Night April 6 and an Italian-themed Spring Fling on April 28. Thanks in advance to this year’s Country of Study chair, Kim Komisar and also to our Spring Fling co-chairs, Virginia Anderson and Jamie Bishop. Viva l’Italia!

Upcoming (February/March)
Stay tuned for details on a Highlands Community Day geared toward service opportunities. Also, since this is an off-auction year, an adult social event is in the works. More information to come!

All the best,
Rebecca McCracken
