Highlands’ Extended Day Program: After-School Care That’s Fun

For many parents, one of the biggest decisions they face with each school year is the question of where they will place their child for after-school care once the school day concludes.

While some children can confidently and easily adapt to new surroundings, others find themselves intimidated by the thought of having to leave school and spend the remainder of the day in a center less familiar to them.

That’s why at Highlands School, we offer an Extended Day Program so that our  parents have the option to let their child remain in a familiar environment with friendly and supportive faces from the school day.

Highlands’ Extended Day Program
Our Extended Day Program (EDP) ensures all students have the opportunity to stay in the same caring, constructive environment they enjoy during their regular school day. A typical schedule may include outside play time, snack time, supervised homework time, and free time.

For parents who also need early-morning hour extended care, we offer that as well. Parents can choose from three types of extended care hours depending on their child’s grade and the family’s extended care needs:
  • Early Care                            7-7:45 AM
  • Extended 4K Care                 noon-3 PM
  • After School                         3 PM-6 PM
What Makes Our Program Unique
Our after-school care program does two things: it meets the needs of our families who are seeking exceptional care for their children and it provides those children with stimulating and enriching extracurricular activities that extend their engagement beyond classwork and foster self-driven curiosities that can enhance their academic, social and professional lives.

Some of the fun activities students can choose to enroll in include:
  • Karate
  • Chess
  • Art
  • Tennis
  • Private Music Lessons
We believe that the entire time your child’s in our care, they ought to be nurtured and given fun opportunities for discovery and exploration.

The EDP Benefits
As a parent, we know your number one priority is making sure your children are loved and cared for, especially when it comes to placing your student in the care of others.

Some of the hallmark benefits your family will reap from enrolling in EDP are:
  • Peace of mind knowing your students are under the care of exceptional faculty and staff whom you and your student already know
  • The convenience of not needing to transport your child from school to an outside after-school care center
  • The consistency in values and learning that come from having your child in the same environment for both school and extracurriculars
